ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL SANSKRIT CONFERENCE (ISC)

The International Sanskrit Conference (ISC) stands as a significant initiative led by Maitreyi College (University of Delhi), with a dedicated mission to promote the Sanskrit language and the Indian Knowledge System. Under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Haritma Chopra, the Principal of Maitreyi College (University of Delhi), and Prof. Bal Ram Singh, the Director of the Institute of Advanced Sciences, USA, Dr. Pramod Kumar Singh, along with Dr. Umesh Kumar Singh, Dr. Awanindra Kumar Pandey, and Ms. Niharika Khurana, established ISC in 2020.

The primary objective of the ISC, operating in partnership with two steadfast organizations—the Institute of Advanced Sciences, USA, and the Council of Indic Studies (CISR), India—is to advance the study of Sanskrit on a global scale. Furthermore, the conference aspires to foster collaborations with various institutions worldwide for each successive event.

The inaugural International Sanskrit Conference convened under the theme “Contribution of Modern Poets in Sanskrit Literature (संस्कृत वाङ्गमय में अर्वाचीन कवियों का अवदान)” from November 28 to 30, 2020, and achieved resounding success. Approximately 80 high-quality research papers were presented by scholars from diverse regions of the country, subsequently published in book form by Vaaksudha Publication, a renowned national publishing house, with ISBN: 978-81-952826-5-4.

Building on the success of the inaugural event, the second International Sanskrit Conference, themed “Sanskrit Studies Across the World (संस्कृत का वैश्विक परिदृश्य),” was hosted on March 1st and 2nd, 2022, via the online platform Zoom. This event featured over 125 research papers presented by scholars across 25 sessions. The selected papers were published by the distinguished international publisher INADS PRESS, USA, with ISBN: 978-1-957310-06-0.

Continuing this momentum, the third International Sanskrit Conference took place from October 20 to 22, 2023, focusing on the theme “Relevance of Traditional Medicine Systems in the Modern Era (वर्तमानकाल में पारंपरिक चिकित्सा पद्धतियों की प्रासंगिकता).” About 100 research papers were presented by scholars from around the globe. These scholarly contributions will be published by INADS PRESS, USA, and launched during the upcoming fourth International Sanskrit Conference (ISC) to be held in August 2024.

During the third ISC, it was decided that henceforth, upcoming ISC conferences would be organized on the proud and auspicious occasion of World Sanskrit Day every year. Hence, the fourth International Sanskrit Conference is scheduled to be held from November 11 to 13, 2024, with the theme “Exploring Literary and Scientific Perspectives in Cosmology (सृष्टिविज्ञान विषयक साहित्यिक एवं वैज्ञानिक अन्वेषण)” to correlate with the New Education Policy.
